#58 closed Bug (wontfix)

calorimeter lepton isolation on or off?

Reported by: rfrances@… Owned by:

Keywords: lepton isolation calorimeter Cc:

Description

Hello I noticed a difference between the cards shipped with MagGraph and those in the standalone version.

In the cards shipped with the standalone version there is

# Charged lepton isolation. Pt and Et in GeV
ISOL_trk_PT 2.0 minimal pt of tracks for isolation criteria
ISOL_trk_Cone 0.5
Cone for isolation criteria
ISOL_calo_Cone 0.5 Cone for isolation criteria
ISOL_calo_ET 0.5
minimal tower transverse energy for isolation criteria.
ISOL_calo_Grid 3 Grid size (N x N) for calorimetric isolation

while in the cards shipped with MadGraph I find

# Charged lepton isolation. Pt and Et in GeV
ISOL_PT 2.0 minimal pt of tracks for isolation criteria
ISOL_Cone 0.5
Cone for isolation criteria
ISOL_Calo_ET 1E99 minimal tower transverse energy for isolation criteria. 1E99 means "off"
ISOL_Calo_Cone 0.4
Cone for calorimetric isolation
ISOL_Calo_Grid 3 Grid size (N x N) for calorimetric isolation

So it seems that in the MG cards the charged lepton calorimetric isolation cut is switched off. The tracker isolation seems in place in both cases.

I would like to understand why this different choice and what differences are expected to arise from this.
Also I am wondering what choice is supposed to be closer to current experimental setups.

Thanks for your replies
Roberto

Hi,

I think this is a question best suited for madgraph devs, as they made the choice not to use calo isolation. I myself do not know why they chose to do so.

Ok, thanks for the reply anyways.
