#262 new How to

Parton level - detector level comparison

Description

Dear Delphes team,

is it possible to get information, from the Particle Branch, also on hard scattering particles? I guess yes, but... I have a composite top partner model, that assigns the numbers 800000x with x in [1,n] to the composite sector particles (that, if I understood well from the PDG document, should be wrong for a composite quark partner, but this is another story). The process is production of this top partner and it's decay in w b. After pythia showering and delphes detector simulation, in the Particle branch I cannot find no such PDG code, neither a single particle with such a mass, while e.g. in the pythia log file they're correct. What should I do? Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks

Giancarlo Panizzo

PS: I've just downloaded the latest version, but it didn't worked for 3.0.9 too.

Hi Giancarlo,

could you please attach a small lhe and hep file produced by madgraph?

Hi Giancarlo,

in your lhe file I see a particle that is saved as pdgcode = 0. It seems that this is the one you are looking for. If you specifically need an other pdgcode I believe there is a way to force madgraph to assign some other code to that particle.
In such case I suggest you contact the mg team.

Cheers,
Michele

Ok, thank you Michele, I'll contact them (I'm already telling mg5 the right pdg code!)

Sorry, but I've thought about it... why pythia shows the right pdg code in the log file?

Maybe it is a pythia problem, then?
