Description
Dear all,
I am quite new to Delphes. We are trying to reproduce two ATLAS (Fig.11 a in https://arxiv.org/abs/2207.00338) and CMS (Fig.1 c-d in https://arxiv.org/abs/2206.09466) analysis over SM Higgs-boson decaying to a pair of W bosons, which subsequently decay leptonically.
We are using MadGraph5, hence showering with Pythia8 then feeding the output to Delphes and finally performing the appropriate cuts. When using the standard CMS and ATLAS card for the settings in Delphes, in both analysis we cannot reproduce the results of the full simulation of the papers.
In order to face this, we applied smearing and shifted the observable by few GeV. After this procedure, the shape is quite accurate, although the efficiency is off by a factor of 2 with respect to the values quoted in the paper. This is the case both for CMS and ATLAS analysis. The discrepancy with the efficiency was present also before smearing and shifting.
We are wondering whether you know why the efficiency does not match with the ones of the papers (maybe pile-up?), and if to your knowledge there is any pheno paper which encountered the same issue.
We thank you very much for your time and help!
