Delphes 3.4.2 installation fails

Description
Dear Delphes team,
I am installing Delphes 3.4.2 against ROOT 6.14/04 with gcc 7.2.0 using make (no additional options).
I get the following error:
Error in <TInterpreter::InspectMembers>: TClass and cling disagree on the size of the class TBaseClass, respectively 128 152 Error in <TInterpreter::InspectMembers>: TClass and cling disagree on the size of the class TClassRef, respectively 16 40 Error in <TInterpreter::InspectMembers>: TClass and cling disagree on the size of the class TClassRef, respectively 16 40
The installation continues until it crashes with the error:
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [hepmc2pileup] Error 1
Any idea what could be causing this?
