How to do matching of a jet with parton level

Description
Hi,
I am trying to do some matching of jet with tau at generator level. But in less than 50% cases,I am getting the closest jet for which dR (jet, gentau) <0.5. I am using CMS environment. Is this # expected or I am doing something wrong?
