The group of particle physics theory and phenomenology of CP3 at UCLouvain (https://uclouvain.be/en/research-institutes/irmp/cp3) is inviting applications for a PhD position starting in the fall of 2024.

The four-year PhD will be supervised by Gauthier Durieux and focus on new on-shell amplitude techniques, their applications to effective field theories, and the resulting phenomenology at colliders. Initial funding is guaranteed for 15 months. Applications to national fellowships will be requested, before considering a contract extension.

Five permanent staff members of CP3 (CĂ©line Degrande, Marco Drewes, Gauthier Durieux, Fabio Maltoni, Olivier Mattelaer) pursue activities in particle theory and phenomenology, including SM and BSM aspects, LHC and future colliders, simulation tools, effective field theories, amplitude techniques, early universe cosmology, astroparticle, dark matter, and neutrino physics. Currently, 4 postdocs, 6 PhD students, and 3 Master students join this effort.

Theorists in CP3 have strong ties with local experimentalists, from the CMS, NA62, IceCube, KM3Net, Virgo, and E-TEST collaborations. In total, the centre hosts 18 permanent staff members, 22 postdocs, 30 PhD candidates, and 11 Master students. The neighbouring CURL group focuses on cosmology. UCLouvain is located in Louvain-la-Neuve, about 25 km south of Brussels, Belgium at the heart of Europe.

Interested candidates are invited to submit:
