The full sky cosmic string simulated maps are under the two
directories labelled according to their HealPix Nside resolution; for
the time being Nside=2048 or Nside=4096 only.
The file name respects the following convention:
map1n_allz_FILTER_Nside_NUM.fits
- "1n" and "allz" are internal (related to the map making procedure);
you want "allz" as it encodes all the redshift range to the last
scattering.
- "filter" stands for some minimal convolution filters applied on the map:
"": If the field is empty, this is the raw map; which is strongly aliased
at small scales. It is provided only for test.
"aa": Refers to an anti-aliasing filter applied on the raw map;
the power spectrum should be accurate up to lmax = 3*Nside-1.
"rt": Refers to a renormalization of outliers in the tail of the
one-point distribution function; the one-point function in real
space should be accurate up to P(signal)=1/npix.
"pixlw": This is a convolution with the Healpix pixel window
function at the Nside resolution.
*** "rtaapixlw": is a combination of the above filters. This is
the cleanest map.
- "NUM" is a map label.
The directory "movies/" contains a snapshot movie of one of the 3072
Nambu-Goto simulations used to generate the map: check out
arXiv:1204.5041 for more details on the map making procedure.
