Congratulations to Professors François Englert and Peter Higgs for the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physics

We heartly congratulate Professors François Englert and Peter Higgs for the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physics. We are especially happy for our Belgian colleague François and all our colleagues from ULB.

CMS and ATLAS independently announced the discovery of a new particle on 4 July 2012, later identified as a Higgs boson, confirming the predictions of Professors Brout, Englert and Higgs in seminal papers published in 1964.

Additional information:

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2013 was awarded jointly to François Englert and Peter W. Higgs "for the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles, and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider"
